You are cordially invited to celebrate Thanksgiving with Mr. and
Mrs. Peterkin, Agamemnon, Solomon John, Elizabeth Eliza, and the
Little Boys |
But do so at your own risk because
the Peterkins have been known to get into some unusual holiday
scrapes, and this year will not be different. Just as the Peterkins
are set to begin Thanksgiving dinner, they realize that something
is missing from their beautiful table ... the turkey!
The Peterkins' Thanksgiving, a companion book to The Peterkins' Christmas and
adapted from the children's classic, The Peterkin Papers by Lucretia
Hale, is an uproarious holiday tale that will remind readers of all ages to count
their blessings... and to keep track of their turkeys!
Wendy Anderson Halperin is the illustrator of many critically
acclaimed books for children, including The Peterkins' Christmas, Turn! Turn!
Turn!, Love is ..., The Full Belly Bowl, and the Cobble Street Cousins series.
She lives with her family in Michigan.
Lucretia P. Hale was born in 1820 to a literary family in Boston,
Massachusetts. In 1874 she became one of the first women ever elected to the
Boston school committee. She was the author of many works for children and adults,
including The Peterkin Papers, first published in 1880, and The
Last of the Peterkins, published in 1886. Lucretia Hale passed away in 1900. |
