When her father gives her a bag of sugary, colorful gumdrops, a little girl has a truly wonderful idea. Instead of eating them, she will plant them! A gumdrop tree - what a sweet and good idea. She digs a hole and drops the gumdrop in. She waters and waters and waits. But nothing happens. Until one morning...

Elizabeth launched her writing career with a Bachelors degree in Journalism that eventually led to a career in advertising. She now devotes her writer skills full-time to children's books. This is her fourth. When she isn't writing, Elizabeth enjoys playing tennis, walking on the beach, cooking, and watching people in her hometown of Cayucos, California.

Julia Gorton's illustrations have appeared in a number of publications, including Newweek, Better Homes and Gardens, Redbooks, and Child. She lives in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, with her husband, illustrator Daniel Kirk, and their two children.
